i have a g40 engine and want to stick it in some thing LOL

I'm exploring my options i like my mk3 polo's but i want a burg cup polo and i think the mk2 looks best with burg cup arches and easyer as i want my polo for a track day and road car!

how hard is a mk2 g40 conversion.?

how much more work needs doing to a mk2 than a mk3?

all ready got every thing for a conversion accept rear axle for a mk3?

whats different like suspension, chassie, brakes?

To make things easier relocate the battery into the boot, and put the windscreen washer fluid bottle in where the battery sat. Give a bit more space under the bonnet.

Thre is no locater bracket to fit the intercooler at the front of the car, the original G40 mk2 has a hole cut in the front panel - 1 hole of pipework in - 1 hole for pipework out. You could fit the intercooler where the windscreen washer fluid bottle use to sit with a vent through the bonnet ducted down to the intercooler - like a Renault 16v scoop?

MK2's have no servo so that gives you a bit more room, just makesure you have strong legs!

The later the mk2 shell the better - VW changed the floorpanel in 1988 so that all you have to do is swop over the G40 axle. Even the fuel tanks should be ok and the mounting bracket for the under floor fuel pimp should already be in place.

Chassis reacts to upgrades the same as a mk3, but the front end of a mk2 is a little stronger the way that the raintray is setup!

i will be putting the battery in the rear any way!

not worried about any custom fabrication makes the project that little bit more fun campared to a boring mk3 conversion! nothing wrong with a mk3 tho but a mk2 is more old school more the look I'm after!

I know buggar all about the mechanics but get an audi 50 would b the teflon don with a 40 in it!!!!

mk1 polo would love to but I'm not waiting for one to come up for sale and prob way past my budget as i have all reqiured to g40 some thing!

my g40 engine is running 157bhp rolling roaded atm and will be getting an aftermarket intercoller!

the rear axle is a v shape if you look at it from the side (cross section)

the anti roll bar stops the axle twisting right?

by gussetting, i mean to weld in v shape plates along the axle, so you get loads of open boxes along it

think of a thick piece of card board, you have the two outter skins, and the corrigated bit in the middle to give it strength
