Is it me, or is there insufficient room to get the auxilliary drivebelt wheel off between the crankshaft bolt and the bulkhead? This is doing my nut in. I can't get that piece of plastic shite (lower timing belt cover to you) off and therefore I can't get the timing belt off. For f**k's sake. Somebody shoot me - please!!!!!!!

you need to drop the engine down a bit

i did it by putting my jack under the sump (on a block of wood)

undo the driver side mount and slide it out, then dropping the engine down (resting on the jack)

So if I undo the bolt going through the rubber thing, slide the rubber out and let the mount rest directly on the bulkhead, this will give me enough clearance?

i think you mean the inner wing not the bulkhead

you dont even need to rest it on the inner wing, i remember i only have to lower the mount a little more, try it a see

I got a crowbar in between the block and inner arch. Put a towel between the bar though, I managed to remove a fair chunk of paint.

Unless anyone knows of a reason why you shouldn't lever the engine that way?

yeah I'm with loosening the engine mounts and levering the engine over, rather than lowering it

This is how garages have done mine in the past. Can't see any real reason why not, although the inner wing is both badly dented and scratched where the have levered it.

to replace pulley,balance pulley on the shaft and lever engine mount again if you do it slowly it should drop back on

make sure it's the right way round first though !!

there are always different ways of doing the same thing, not a case of DONT do it
