Do i need a cat converter if my car was registered on 1st may 93? I know the early ones don't need one and want to make sure i'm included as i've noticed my new car aint got one!

Yes. All '93 cars need a cat.

No, you don't need a CAT - but you do need to pass an emissions test designed for cars with catalysts. It is possible to pass without one.

yeah the test just say you have to pass the emission levels, not how you go about it.

I,m having my cat replaced at the minute to get my 1993 through the emmissions test. Price I'm paying is £85 + labour.

Hopefully it will go straight on and job should be about £100 total price but it is a right swine having to pay that sorta money just to pass an emmission test.

The template for the 1993 polo is 0.30% CO emmissions. Mine was 0.68%

You could order one online (about £75 delivered ) or check out ebay. Then ask a local mechanic to fit it but you're generally looking at arounf the £100+ mark unfortunatly.
