At the very least you'll want a spacer plate between the head and block to lower the compression and probably G40 management, injectors, cam, fuel rail and throttle body. I don't think I'd want to run a charger on stock SPI...

cheers it was only an idea but the chargers free so we'll see it wont be for a while tho as moneys quite tight :p

You might get away with it as long as you can work out how to get enough fuel in.

thats simple, use the 1.8 spi injector, dunno what you would do about the idle and how it runs off boost with that size injector though and you could always get a larger charger pulley made up so that it doesnt run so much boost, which would allow you some time to buy suitable upgrade parts to run high boost pressures. then you will have the prob of insuring it, no doubt this will be expensive. another route you could take is to ditch the injection for carb (like the old mg metrot turbo used)

I think an ABD would run pretty well with a 1.8 spi injector most of the time and probably not that much difference in terms of amount of fuel getting in, not when forced induction is concerned anyway. I'm thinking a second injector somehow triggered by a certain boost level.

ok sounds a plan :D so basically if i were to run carbs you reckon it would run better?? at the moment I'm looking to build another engine as the insurance would kill me this year :( the chargers been over boosted so it needed to be rebuilt which is whats happening at the moment so how would this second injector thingy work then??? I'm not all heads up on vw engines etc

the idea behind the 2nd injector, is that it would operate when the engine come on boost, to supply the extra fuel needed. I've no idea how you would trigger it or even were to fit it.it all seem like a lot of work, when maybe fitting a carb might be an easier option or even just save up for a g40 or complete engine and loom. polokris might be worth talking to (the one who eaton'd a 1 litre) think he went down the carb route!

Would certainly be an interesting project, but without a spacer plate you will need an absolute shit load of fuel available when on high boost... Or limit the boost (as described above by a bigger pulley).

Would be fun!
