Insurace Question

Featured Replies

Hi, I bought a Polo but as I haven't passed my test yet I said my mam could drive the car until I do. When she phoned up to sort the insurance they refused to do it because she wasn't the registered keeper, then they wanted £200 a month to put me on the policy. Do all companies do this? Over £2000 a year is far too much for a 1.4 polo.

i would say that was far to expensive, i would surgest u be the main driver and then her as a second driver either that or change the registered keeper to your mum but obviously this affects the value because it says the car has had more owners.

It was because elephant would let me insure my mam as the main driver even though the car was in my name, its a bit of a joke really, from over £2000 to less than £300!

Morale of the story...if you want to take advantage of your mam or dads no claims...register the car in their name :p

I'm not sure whether your joking around or not...

I'm not insured on it yet....it's too expensive until I've passed my test. Elephant let me insure for my mam even though shes not the registered keeper so its only £279 a year. Other companies said since it was my car I had to be insured as the main driver on it even though I haven't passed my test which was where the stupid money quotes were coming from.

Just tried elephant for my mk4 1.0l and what a joke £655 a year. And i am 25 with 5 years no claims, i am paying £350 a year at the moment with tesco's for the same cover.

Shittin hell that's piss poor! My mate is 19 with a years no claims and pays less than that on a 170-180 bhp Rover 25 with all mods declared!

Give me your mates insurers name and i will try them, to see if they can quote me happy :-p

He's with adrian flux. He's paying just under £700 so it was a tiny bit more than I thought but still cheap as anything.
