Sound deadening

Featured Replies

I need to start deadening areas in the car the vibrations are driving me mad at the mo. Wheres the best place to get it from and where should i do it in the car?

I've got a 5dr Mk5. I would have thought boot lid, around the boot on back of seats which then need to be carpeted, all 4 doors and roof. In the doors where does it go?

Thanks in advance

are you looking to sound deaden - prevent sound getting through the pannels

OR

just stop the rattles?

Looking at deadening and stop rattling. I've seen stuff like dynomat, but in a 30sq ft roll on ebay, Is that what I should buy?

Try spraying waxoyl on the insides of the doors, it makes a hell of a difference. You can get special sound deadening spray as well I'm sure, but isn't as cheap to use as waxoyl. Spray it on the underside of your car, on the footwells, as well if you want. It will add to the rust protection and quieten down road noise a fair bit in my experience.

to stop rattles you can use anything, expanding foam is a good one for voids like the rear quarters......

this stuff from teh bay is good sound deadening....

if you go somewhere remote and play lots of loud music, and find every rattle , and either expanding foam it or put some matting on it that should do it

is waxoyl not just a rust preventitive?

i used some roof flashing tape in mine... its cheap, easy to apply and works well IMO
