headlight beam adjustment

Featured Replies

Just wondering how you adjust your headlights to the correct angle? I keep on getting flashed by other motorists (haha) so i had a look this morning and they seem to be way out of line somewhat.

Also whats the legal requirement as i dont want to get pulled and fined!

Cheers!

Open the bonnet and look at the back of the light. In the top corners, there are 2 wheels. One adjusts up-down, the other adjusts left-right. Park facing a garage door on a flat surface at night, and use the beam pattern it casts against it to make a rough adjustment. If your headlights are out of alignment then its an MOT fail, but if you know the tester, he may let you do a quick adjustment then and there to get it right and pass it.

how do you correctly adjust the lights, I know that both has to have the same height (up/down adjustment) but what about the left/right adjustment?

is there a template to use to align them correctly?

Basically, they should be in line with the unit that casts them.

what I'm finding really strange about my projector angel eyes is when I go in front of the car with the main beam on and start going down gradually on my knees to the floor, I notice that the left beam flashes before the right beam as one is lower than the other, and I can't sort it out as when I put it infront of a wall they are exactly the same height, sounds strange.

Was thinking that the bulb maybe is not fitted as it should but if I remeber well there was just one way to put them in...
