I phoned my insurance and they said I could change to a G40 and there would be no extra cost, although they said I cant have a mk3 golf 16v just a tad stupid realy but hey thats the confusing world of insurance.

when i wanted a mk2 Golf GTI (8v) i could'nt have one unless it had a Thacham Approved alarm

Next day i rang the same place for a quote for a Scirocco with the same 8v engine and it did'nt need the alarm

..

Also i had a Clio 1.8 16v (Phase 1, wide arches & scoop on the bonnet).......insurence on it was nearly half of what i paid for insurence on the Rocco
