Basically my gearbox is whining and making shaking grind noises. Now I'm thinking of getting it refurbed but thats like 500quid so would a 1.4 8v gearbox work.

If the 16v would just chew it up or the ratios would be to pot then i would leave it but i read somewhere they are the same box but I'm not sure.

If you could help me that would be great these things always happen when your getting happy the way the car is. By the way its a 1.4 16v AUB

I'm not sure about the specifics of the 16v boxes tbh...

BUT I do know that nearly all small block boxes fit the small blocks and work without too much hassle.

If you can get the box out on the cheap then send it to a company called JP Race @ Silverstone...

They rebuild boxes - new bearings and seals for around £100 + labour @ £100 works out around £200 - maybe a bit more
