Hello all,

Bought a polo rear bumper off ebay last week and finally got round to fitting it last night and was far to deep as in stuck out too far at the back, as u can imagine was pretty pissed off..... but before i get on ebay and slate this guy and ruin his feed back i just want to check i've got my facts straight??? Does a G40 have a different rear bumper to a standard mk3 polo??? i know there are descrepancies over what mk people call this model but i know its not a 6n bumper!

All advice appreciated......

G40's have the same rear bumper as all other Mk3 Coupe Polo's. Square's and loons have different bumpers for obvious reasons.

My guess is you may have a squareback mk3 bumper, these fit differently to the coupe bumpers and consequently are different in shape.

I'd check the listing to see how it was advertised. If it was up as a coupe bumper then i think you have the right to complain a little.

a pic would be good Ad then we can say for sure what it is. all coupe bumpers are the same just people think cos of the red stripe which is stuck on that the g40/gt ones are specific. drives me mad!!!

al sort a pic tonight but the main dif is that its deeper and that it bends round in to the wheel well as such... which mine certainly doesnt do it just meets the arches and stops there!

If it's longer between the back and the wheelarches, it's a hatch or a saloon one.

but a the coupe is a hatchback?! do you mean the square backs? thinking about it i think your right it is probably for the saloon!!! not sure why i didnt think of this!!! i'll have to buy a saloon to fit it oon now DAMN IT! dont want the bumper to go to waste lol!

You have just brought up an interesting point though that probably confuses many Polo owners...

Hatchback

Coupe

Saloon

I expect a coupe to have 2 doors and a boot, and normally a saloon to have 4 doors and a boot. And a Polo coupe is what I'd call a hatch... Gets so fookin confusing, then some motor spares places take it upon themselves to call the squareback an estate, and the coupe a hatch. Which leads to lots of confusion!

looks like youve bought a square back bumper square = hatch.i can understand why though every other car of similar shape to the coupe is classed as a hatch and square would be an estate and saloon should be the coupe as it has 2 doors and sloping rear screen and saloons generally have 4 doors.bit of a shiter but at least you didnt pay mega money for it.go 2 your local bodyshop supplies place they should do pattern parts last mk3 bumper i bought was made by hadrian fitted well and only cost me bout £15
