failed mot - lambda sensor help?

Featured Replies

I've got a 6k 2.0l 16v gti Ibiza and it seemed to be running fine, took it to the mot with high hopes and it failed on emmission lambda reading on second idle being too high. the guy said it was supposed to be between 0.3-1 and its up at 14, wtf?? he checked the exhaust quickly and saw nothing blowing ..I've gotta get another mot done now but i duno how to sort this prob out first!! i know the car was hot when it got there but it was sitting for about an hour until he got it on the emission test unit so it cooled down. but would it be that high if thats all it needed?

thanks, koz

cmon man its the same engine as a golf, same body as a polo ...its a VAG! anyone ???

lambda probe at a wild guess? There's loads of things it could be.

Plus you'll probably find a lot more knowledge on the 2.0 16v engine on somewhere like the Club GTI forum, polos don't come with those engines!
