its spot welded, its all part of the slam panel. i did the same thing (Just look in the member gallery) it needs to be chopped off and a new one welded on. its a bastard of a job. The worst part is finding getting one in the first place, luckly for me Steve86c had just chopped the whole of a front end off a car. Its going to take some effort getting one and removing.

bollocks!alrite wel i might jus take it to a garage and c if they can deal wiv it sumhow.

you can buy them new, they're only cheap. Places like Euro Car Parts do them.

But yes, removing the old one and fitting the new one isn't the easiest of jobs, plus it'll need painting. I actually riveted my new one on so that it's easier to remove if I ever need to.

Got a price from VAG last week as mines seen better days :( the cost before vat, wait for it............................

..........£43.20... I will have have to double check that though, seems way to cheap, prob priced up wrong bit!!!

Rivets...the way forward

well they are less than £15 from euro car parts

It's called a Front middle panel and the Hadrian part no is 91 33 203.

ECP should recognise this part number.Unsure as to what it would cost.

just been on euro car parts but cant find one, can anyone direct me?

i had an aftermarket slam panel fitted on my old mk3 about 4 years ago. worst ever, never looked right and the ends never were flush with the wings. the pattern wings went rusty very quickly too. hence why I've now bought genuine vag ones for my G as i just couldnt bare the pattern ones.

i got 1 of these a month ago from euro car parts it was £11 and delivered 2 me job done..........they call it a front metal rail.

mines bent to hell as well! God knows whatthe previous owner did! Am i right in thinking that the front bumper screws to this as well?

The front bumper bolts to the mettal reinforment that runs across the front of the chassis legs rather than the grille rail.

Karl.
