I've been told i need my gearbox has probably had it, the garage want around 300 pounds labour and 650 for a reconditioned box. Can anyone please point me in a cheaper direction? Is this a fair price?

I live in Cambridgeshire, I dont mind travelling a bit for a good price. Any ideas on costs?
