yeah course pal, I'm on an 8 month bonus accelerator

i have just renewed my policy and a lot of places such as HIC and brentacre wont take the 10 months bonus accelarator as a full year which is gay.

can only use 1 of my 3 years no claims, they still beat admirals renewal though

yeh i'm on my 2nd year of a 10 month bonus accelerator, and Adrian Flux and Chris Knott took some persuading, but they were still more over 10 months than norwich union. Basically it's meant to keep you with norwich union becuase they'll only recognise the no claims policy that they have

I fell for this with Bell, the fella on the phone told me most other insurers will honour it as a years no claims, and i found out recently that it was a blatant lie...

Bastard.

get the certificate stating its a 1yr NCB as they should give and send it off to the new insurance company?

or carry on with a 1 year policy with existing company, then you should get 2 years after on 1 certificate?]

this not possible?

We don't really have many schemes that we can accept a 10 month accelerator bonus on. Plus you have to renew your policy 2 months earlier. Sometimes it doesn't make financial sense. But its up to you.

Dan

My mate did this and hes been regretting it ever since.

I'm on my first years of a 10month accelerator seems good to me you save money and get a years no claims early.

it would seem alot the companies will use the accelerator I've also got an extra no claims from riding a 50 so I'm 19 with 3years no claims. it sometimes take some persuading but if u say I'm guna take my buisnesss else were theyl usualy let you use it. either that or just be really nice to em n crack a joke I've found people on the other end of the phone can change some of the settings and enable me to have the 3 years. even though the computer says its mathermaticaly impossible lol

I've been through this before myself and basicly when you renew with a company that do normal 12 month policys you just say how many years NCB you have. When you get the proof of NCB from your old company it does not mention the 10 month bonus thing any way.

I've got this on Bell i'm doing my second year of the 10month bonus and i got my first years no claims bonus certificate and it says nothing about the bonus. But surely if you have two 10 month bonus and you've been driving more than 2 years, surely that works out anyway?

  • 10 months later...

I got a certificate from Bell for my no claims and it doesn't mention that it was for 10 months. If I have an accident then I'll have to show it to my new insurer as proof of no claims. I did ask the new insurer if they accept 10 month no claims as a year and they said that they have to accept it as a year's no claims.

i thought about the 10 month schemes to get my no claim up quick, but didnt.

1) a lot of insurance companies dont accept the 10 months as a year.

2) it doesnt cost much more to do a 12 months policy, infact, i found the cost per month was lower on a 12 month than on a 10 month, so went with 12 months.

To be fair a years no claims doesnt save you that much, so i would say your better off with a 12 month policy.

no claim's bonus accelerator's = waste of time

I disagree to a certain extent. Nobody will touch Admiral for the quotes they are giving me on a standard/lightly modified car. Not now, not with 1 years NCB, not with 2 years NCB. So it makes sense for me to stay with Admiral and get even cheaper after 10 months. Plus. as I rather pay my insurance off in one go, 10 months is easier.

However, if you intend on swapping insurers or going with a specialist then it would make more sense to go with an insurer who does the whole 12 months.

I'm on this also, i just saw it as a cheaper way of gettin on the road with the car i wanted with all the mods i wanted

WTF are you on about??? They make a huge difference in the first 5 years of driving!

just done a quote on elephant- my details with my car, 1 years no claims, price £327.

2 years no claims, price £302.

For the sake of £25 you might as well get a 12 month policy, cos like i said... it doesnt make a lot of difference. 8-)

it depends on the insurer and could vary for different people, but if the cost per month is lower for a 12 month than a 10 month policy, this would cancel out any savings you get from your 'accelerated' no claims bonus.
