We were looking at the rear quarters on my Polo last night and due to my rushed effort to get the car done for E38 I left a right hash up of one of the arches and it needs alot of work to sort out the rust. Now we were thinking of welding Golf arches into the rear so that I won't have such a problem putting my wheels on (14x6). I'm guessing that you need to buy the quarter panel repair piece do this? Where can I get it from and how much will it set me back?

Where abouts on the arch is it? What about that pikey method where you cut half the arch out and weld the two bits together and rivet on some GT/G40 arch trims?

I'm not spending a shit load of dollar on the car then pikeying the arches you douche

i recon, you find another squareback in a scrappy with mint rear arches and chop them out. then cut the lips off yours and weld them onto the outside giving you the double width of a squareback arch. that should house your 6" rims and still retain squareback arches

~The thing is the way the line is in the square back arch. The way it moulds in the with the bumper, its gonna be a right tough old job!

i got golf repair pannels from euro car parts for £8 each....

i think you would probably have to but out the square part of the arch that continues behind where the wheel goes and then weld something flat in its place then cut out the whole arch and weld the new one in place

Use coupe rear quarter panels. Ecp still sold them when i asked earlier this year. Not sure how much adapting the inner arches will take,but easy enough to fabricate a suitable bridge. I believe the only difference with the bumper is that there's a little bit shaved off the inner ends,so they dont rub against the arches - Stanley knife job.
