engine swap mk 6n 1.4 16v to 1.6 glx

Featured Replies

Hi guys, another question for you!

I'm looking at getting a 1997 6n polo 16v, however it looks like i may have to have the engine rebuilt/ some major work done on it. Conveniently i've got a 1.6 engine and box sitting in my 1997 6n polo glx that i'm breaking, To avoid being without a car for a while I'm thinking i should be able to swap the engine for a while whilst the 16v is being worked on. My dad has all the tools and stuff for us to do it, my question is, does anyone know of any specific issues with doing this, any potential pitfalls and things to look out for. Are the lengths of the driveshafts the same? What about the abs systems and stuff? Both cars have abs but i was thinking i might have to leave it disconnected or something?

Anyway, any advice on the issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Nick
