This could be a stupid question, but on my Mk2 1.3 2G engine, there are 2 oil sensors in the cylinder head and two 2 water sensors on the thermostat housing. Given that the car doesn't have an ECU, why are there two of each?

Well, one for low and one for high pressure warnings for the oil, and as for the coolant temperature sensors I just spliced these into my early mk2. Black one is for the temperature gauge in the clocks, and the blue one is for the inlet manifold preheater relay above the fusebox.

EDIT> to answer your question, not sure why there are two temperature sensors, think they give different readings for each thing??
