Paintwork

Featured Replies

I've just taken my sidestrips off my polo mk4 and I noticed that on the drivers side below where the strip was is a slightly different colour. It's not really that visible unless you know its there but its doing my head in. can I get just the bottom of the door painted to make it blend in or am I going to have to get the whole door resprayed?

There's a few other bits on the bonnet and drivers wing mirror that I wouldn't mind getting touched up too so I'm hoping I'll just have to get little bits resprayed rather than whole panels.

how about abit of t-cut? :o

yep, some tcut of autoglym super resin polish will sort it out, its where the p;aint has faded on the rest of the car, so if you give the whole car a good polish it should come up lovley

had same problem yet to resolve it yet, was down to a respray on the panel

not happy and t cut dint work :(:(:(

on the door the paint hasn't just faded its actually totally different paint to whats above, it's got like a matt finish to it unlike the rest of the car that's shiny.

the bit on the bonnet looks like someone has tried to touch it up themselves and it just looks gay. its not smooth with the rest of the paintwork.

my mate resprays cars so he should be able to get it done for me on the cheap, I was just wondering if I would need to redo the whole door or only the parts that need touching up.

Could have just oxidised, which is why it appears to have gone matt. Red paint is bad for this. Don't look to far into having it re-sprayed until you've given it a good going over with T-Cut.

As far as re-spraying goes, it'd depend upon how good the colour match is. My mates Golf (also red) has had odd panels sprayed in the past, and although everything looks the same colour in the daylight, at night, they're all different colours.

Yea I work in Blaydon, live in ouston near chester-le-street and I will do :p where you from?

I'll have a go at T-cutting it this week then and see how it goes. The lacquer on the wing mirror is peeling, I'm guessing that needs a respray?

Hmm on the wing mirror.. if it were me i'd probs just buy a new one save me some hassle lol.

Make sure you protect it after t-cutting! i made the mistake of not doing that.. looked at my roof in this weekends nice weather and its nearly pink! :(

thers actualy laqure lines and on the other side thers a white line running the length of the car

i also found some dents wer a panels bin pulled turns out the car was reversed into in a car park, so both sides need a body shop so I'm just waiting for my bank acount to get over -ve and pay for my whole car to be done because it neds it lol

What do I use to protect it after t-cutting? I dont want a pink car! :p

ha ha :p Someone else can probably tell you better information then me but wax would go down nicely for keeping your paintwork happy! :)

Paint renovator is effectively t-cut. Its a lot of hard work doing it by hand if your doing the whole car!

I'll be seeing Micky tonight, I will see if he will machine polish it for you. Probably do it for a few quid, will get rid of the scratches and bring up the paint nicely. If he can't be arsed I'll see if I can get the polisher off him and we can give it a go... :o !!
