I am a bit skint right now and need to get work done on my car ready for payday and trailoring to the exhaust shop...

I have a new box and rear engine mount to do and a linkage repair kit from VAG.

I was wondering - if i replace the other 2 mounts - box and rear - will i be able to change the charger engine mount without removing the charger etc, etc at a later date?

My other query is the linkage repair kit - in which spaniel mentioned the bolts under neath the car being rusted and rounding whenever attempting to remove the little box that holds the bits i am trying to replace and am a bit concerned...

I notice though that there is also 2 bolts when you look down on the linkage with the gaitor removed - if I undone these first - would the box effectively drop out so I can swop out the worn bits for the fresh VAG items?

I'm not sure I understand properly but are you wanting to know if you can swap the engine mount that the charger is mounted to without taking the charger off it? If yes then the answer is no!

Sorry mate - me and my babble...

Not the charger bracket - just the rubber bush that lives on the chassis leg (it is the only engine mount I won't have done)

I was thinking if anyone has just unbolted it and jacked the engine - swopped the mounts and bolted it back in?

That way the charger and bracket wont have to be removed from the block....if that makes sense?

so just the rubber bush then nto the actual mount? I dare say it's possible but it'll probably be a hell of a lot easier to remove the mount from the car and get it on a bench/in a vice. The rubber bushes are a pretty tight fit.

Ah yes, that makes more sense and yeah I'd say the same as Hayesey. It doesnt take that long to get the charger off really and would make it a lot easier.

Bugger that i'm buying the whole engine mount from VAG!

I paid out for the rear one and have a PP solid box mount...

So just changing the rubber / metal engine mounting by jacking the engine with it all connected is feasible?

you need to remove the alternator and charger to get the mount off the engine, the mount also holds both those parts on.

mount needs to come off dave.

the rubber is held in a oval bracket the same as the back mount - it needs to come out really to get it off.

so you will have to take the charger off.

if you buy the mount complete with the bush and thread in it it can be done by jacking the engine up part number is 867 199 302 A

un bolt all 3 bolts 2 in the oval plate and the 1 through the charger mount and jack the engine up till you can get it out I've done it so i no it can be done as i did it on my brothers g so we could lower the engine down more so we could get his toothies on
