Hello there

I have a VW Polo CL Coupe I am trying to get on the road because my Corsa is requiring far too much attention and is falling to pieces. I also drive a 72 1300 (Beetle) but sadly after I got this fully restored, a week and half later I drove into the back of a Golf. At least it was a VW eh! So the need to get my Polo on the road...

Can anyone give any advice on adjusting the rear drums on a Polo? I am not sure I understand how they work. Most drums have an adjuster on them. These rear drums need freeing off but I cannot see any way of adjusting them. Can anyone give any pointers?

they're self ajusting via a spring loaded wedge that should move to compensate for wear

you might find the handbrake is just stuck on..try releasing it and belting the wheel bolts with a hammy...it should shock them free

otherwise poke a pointy screwdriver through a wheel bolt hole and lever the wedge to ajust things
