Yesterday I decided to start removing the side strips on my polo.

Now they are just supposed to be held on by glue/adhesive strip things right?

All was going well, but when I removed the biggest section of the strips it uncovered a small rivet.

Has anyone else had this? If so what did you do, because I’m guessing it’s going to leave a hole...?

Maybe at some point in time the strips started peeling off so the owner at the time decided to rivet it back into place. Thats the only thing i can think of, I took mine off yesterday and i had nothing like that underneath mine.

^^Definitely..Whoever done that is a right pikey! Tell skatty, i'm sure he'll be impressed!

Let's hope the other side isn't held on with self tapping screws!

Odd place,aswell - yeah,must be a bodge for the molding. Open the door and look near the hinges at the other side to make sure there's nothing weird there. Could be a hole where its riveted from the other side. You'll have to drill that rivet out,and get the hole treated. That little bit of rust needs sorting anyway. Such a small hole will be covered with a skim of fill - sand it to the metal,then dent the hole in a fraction,preferably with a big phillips screwdriver,to allow a skim of fill to sit flush over it. Then follow usual protocol on bubble rust treatment,found elsewhere in the forum.

Alternatively,just cover the hole with a badge. Flag,Polo,Coupe,CL,whatever.

Thanks for the relpies, yeah I've looked on the other side, it seems to be behind the door hinge, so i cant really see whats going on.

I'm not sure if it was an owner or not, because there is a slot on the back of the side strip that it clips onto perfecly, like its supposed to be there..... weird.

Well ill take the other side off and hope its not the same lol.
