Just a quickie - will a 195/40 tyre be silly stretch over an 8j rim? Or will it be perfectly fine?

195/40 on an 8 isn't anything overly stupid.

i have 195 over a 8.5 and it looks wicked!

I think it will stretch fine but will obviously give a bumpy ride because the tyre is very low profile as it is and your stretching it. I shouldn't be anything unbearable. I had 165/50's over a 7" rim and that wasn't end of the world bad but noticeably harsher over the 185/50's I had been using on a 6" rim.
