I am changin my rear flexi's on the G ASAP...

Wondered how i stop the fluid from pissing all over the floor?

Use some plastic sheet over the resovoir and refit the lid so to create a vaccum is how haynes say so....

Anyone shed any light on the best method here?

Very large drain tray!! The plastic sheet over the reservoir does work but really just slows the fluid loss.

just get a drip tray... if you do it quick enough u wont lose loads

Loosen them all first. Otherwise you'll have fluid dripping out of one whilst having a mare with the next one. Once both ends are loose,quick swap. It wont be that easy,of course - i made a right hash of changing my corroded fronts,and I've still got the back to do.

Is it easy enought to change the little caliper that pushes the pads onto the drum also?

That'll need disconnecting and changing too as I have a new one - is there no plugs or anything I can buy?

you mean the wheel cylinder? the problem you'll probably have with that is the bolts that hold it on will round off, they'll come out with mole grips but bear in mind you'll need to replace them.

It is the little piston thing that pushes left and right onto the pads when braking...

When I looked it was connected to a solid pipe then the flexi if that makes sense?

It is the part which is at the top in this pic and has it's pistons in because the brakes aren't on - when braking i guess the pistons come out thus pushing the pads onto the rolling drum?

I have a new one of them ready - and looking at the back it is connected to a solid pipe and a bit further up is then the flexi I also am changing...

Just ordered the bolts...

15p each

Gonna start removing the charger / intercooler and replace 2 engine mounts this weekend.

Paint some bits.

And then do the brakes next weekend.
