have a ryder 1.3 golf and am looking to upgrade certain things and I'm been told to look at some polo parts inlet manifold andual downpipe is this true and are there any other parts i can change with GT or G40 polos ? thanks

the engine is basically the same. so most bits are interchangeable. more detail would help! is the golf carb'd? i guess it will be. the gt gearbox would improve things a lot. theres loads of stuff you can do, but it would help to know what you want to do and what kinda of budget you have planned for it!

its a 2g engine wth 2e3 carb as standard and a 084/085 box if that helps anyone :-)

but the dizzy was 180 out, tell by teh vac advance?

I've heard a rumour about 8v gti cam fits on 1300 golf engine, and what about the gt gear box, does it bolt straight on? interested in up the power on my 1.3 (i know some people wont agree but every one to their own right?)

The dizzy was probably 180° out because it's impossible to get enough advance on the standard position - I cranked it all the way and the car started missing a bit, I tweaked the CO screw and it's fine - better than ever in fact. I need more advance!

That rumour would be wrong, it's a completely different engine. The GT box is a straight swap, as is the GT block and head, as I have these and I think twin40racer does too!
