I've got a set of P-slots knocking about in my rented garage. One of the wheels has been in my backyard for a while now and I was bored so I started to polish it to see ohw it would come up. Wheel had a slight kink in the lip and dimples all over it.

Went over it with 240 first and the dimples were still there, so went over it with 180 > 240 > 800 > 1200 > autosol just to get ar ough idea of how they'd come up. They have come up alright but there not great. Still loads of dimples left in them. I know they aren't gonna be perfect cause I skipped a lot of grades of wet and dry but I did it quickly just to see how it would look. As a guide basically.

Just wanna know if I'm best off painting these and flogging them and getting another set thats in better condition or if I go over them with 60 > 80 > 120 > 180 > 240 > 400 > 600 > 800 > 1200 > polishing mops > autosol will they come up any better?

I only spent about 15-20 mins doing this one and its come up okay, but I would like a much better shine on them tbh.

Here are the pics, only really concentrated on the centre bits, did a bit on the lips but the bit between the centres and the P's I haven't even touched!

As soon as you get close you can see all the dimples and imperfections. Scratches obviously cause I've spent hardly any time on it.

i say paint them and get another set to polish.

Either go on my missus 6N when I buy her one or go back in the garage. She wants some Telidials for hers I think. Not sure, trying to swindle her into wanting theses cause I want the Telidials for the Lupo

May just polish these and then sell them and buy some Telidials and paint / polish them. I may even put them on my Polo. P-slots on a mk3 isn't as done as it used to be. Its all about Classics now

Should have a look into getting the inside of the wheel painted, seems to be a trend setter, especially with P slots? My gf is after a car for next year....brand new seat ibiza is my liking at the moment . Go with some steffans on the lupo, 14's and wide

I looked at Seffans, Borbet Ts, RSL Cults and all sorts. Ended up getting RMs in the end.

sell them to me as they are, cheap

Did you do them by hand? Don't look that bad, maybe start out with higher grade or a wire brush attatchment on a drill?

i would keep them tbh

go thorough the gredes of wet and dry then use a tac cloth (used to key paint before spraying) as they also come in differnt grades then polish them,,, if you hand polish them it will come out beter as with a machine often it melts the polish,, i no by hand takes longer but garrentie u itl be worth it

but keeping them up togeather is a nightmare with all the rain and when it mixes with brake dust it doesnt take long for them to go back to how they where...

I just whack'em on the car and let the engine do all the work.

When I did my wheels on the GIT I started with 80 grit wet n' dry to remove all traces of the lacquer and corrosion and dimples. Then just used polishing compound with an attachement on the drill. Each wheel took about 2 hours, but they did come up mint.

Bit more time Kam and they'll look wicked

Its not hard to do it like that all I advise is be careful.
