I have a 2000 6n2 polo and I fitted fog lights last night to the car, in the process of fitting the fog lights the battery went dead once I had finished fitting the lights I jump started the car it started fine but there is no response from the accelerator and the battery light is staying on?can anyone help me I really need the car for later on so it is very urgent?Thanks in advance.

Did you remove the battery negative when connecting the fogs up?

Check the fuses and make sure they are all intact.

Make sure nothing is earthing where it shouldn't be.

Did you use an existing fog lamp wiring loom or did you fit a new loom or cut into another loom to wire in your new fog lamps?

No i didnt know i needed to remove the negtive so i just removed the positive!there was no existing fog light loom so just cut into the sidelight loom on one of the headlights could that hav caused a problem?which fuses should I check the ones on the top of the battery or all the ones inside the car aswell?thanks so much for the help I'm a bit lost at the moment!

check the flat fuse on top of the battery.

I don't know anything about the 6N or 6N2. I would check all the fuses to be sure.

You disconected the battery so a surge from fitting the new device is unlikely to have caused the problem, but fitting the live with the earth already connected might have.

Most probably a fuse problem in the engine bay.
