My 1998 Polo keeps stalling, when I come to a juntion/lights.

The revs drop to below 600 then recovers and dips again then finally stalls. It does not seem to occur as much in the rain.

I had a diagnostic test yesterday and nothing came up. I added petrol additive a week ago no change to the problem

Common fault! Needs throttle body cleaning and putting through basic setting on a diagnostic computer. (scanner/ vag 1552)

I've got a friend of the family to have a look at this for me, but they're having a problem locating the throttle system - could you describe it's location? Any other directions/repair tips would also be appreciated.
