MkII GT with 1.3 3F engine

[/si

Hey guys, i love my gt coupe, but it needs to be quicker. I would even consider a bore and build but i dont think tsr do one for my engine (3F), so i need some help finding

1, What are the best cams for all round grunt + fly wheel

2, wanted to get a TSR gas flowed head, but wanted to know if there's better out there.

3, Was gonna get a spax kit for the beast but wondered if it was worth maybe gettin coilovers.

4, Can i get anti-roll bars for the gt or are they only available for the G40. Its an 89/90 quite a late Mk 2

5, Brakes Brakes Brakes. Checked with brembo, but wandered what the most favoured ones are.

6, Strut braces, who does the best one's for my car.

Here's the important one

7, Who's got the hardest tuned 1.3 GT Coupe on the forum. Gotta know who the competition is!! and i wanna see some really nice examples of my car as mine a Rat.

Wanna get some impressive time at santa pod.

Also I've got some 195 15 inch ATS Cups, what tyres will i need to guarantee improved handling and no scrubbing.

wanted eagle F1's but was told 195 45 r15's would scrub and that i'd have to stretch the rubber to get the tyres under the arches?

I've already stripped the back out of the car, and i'm looking forward to my little project really taking shape.

Any help you guys can give will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys (and gals)

1, You'll be wanting a Shrick 268/268 methinks.

2, Can't help you here.

3, Coilies for a Mk2 are £500 plus. Lowering kit (springs and shocks) start at around £120.

4, The front anti roll bar is what shags the handling on Mk2/2F Polos because they lift the inside wheel when you're going round a corner causing all the power to spin out.

5, For a cheap upgrade, get some VWII calipers as found on G40s and other VWs, with some vented discs and fast road pads.

6, A front upper strut brace won't make much of a difference, and neither will a lower one on a Mk2, they're pretty solid at the front end. A rear brace might help but I don't know of anyone with one. There should be another batch made up soon from Polo6n1600i on here.

And I've just realised, a '89/'90 GT Coupe is a Coupe S if you're in the UK and the car isn't an import. That's 55 bhp. If you actually do a 3F (GT) swap then that's another 20-25 bhp standard.

Soz man it may just be me being dense but i couldnt quite work out what u were tryin to say here.

Its got the 3F engine in it (definitely, got it checked out), and it says GT Coupe on it, but what is the Coupe S? whats the deal with the S then?

Cheers for your help with the cams though dude.

And is there a replacement for the anti roll bars cos thats inside wheel spinning in the corners is very poo.

Wanna get some tyres to fit some 195 15 inch ATS Cups but they've got an offset of 25 and iv been told i'll need to stretch the rubber to fit them under the arches, what size? what tyres? and where can i find someone who delivers (preferably for free)?

Cheers dude!!!

Coupe S is what the mk2 GT was re-badged as in the UK. It's just a trim level really. Later ones (E reg onwards I think) had the 55bhp MH carb engine.

Anyway, anti roll bar, there are some thicker ones in existence in germany but they are very rare (not just "ebay rare") and pretty expensive. If you really want to make a difference to the handling then a subframe which gets rid of the roll bar altogether is the answer but be prepared to get your wallet out! Talking at least £700 at the moment.

Dude, my car is a MK2 polo GT Coupe with the 1.3 3F engine with the 8v head and the digifant fuel injection.

its not a mk3.

I know, when did I say I thought it was a mk3?

By the way, mk2 and mk3 are basically the same car with different bodywork on them.
