G40 in a mk4

Featured Replies

Hey ho,

Right I'm lookin for any adivce or information on putting a g40 engine into a mk4.

Before we start: i might be a bit of a n00b at some points, so lamens terms may need to be used! :-D

Basically i want to know if its been done before, how easy it is, whats needed, how much it'll cost, is it worth it, reliability....

Just tell my anything you know on the subject because i dont know a lot about it, but if it doesent cost too much i might give it a go when I've got some money.

Thanks in advance.

Grant.

as far as the conversion goes, I think you need to weld an engine mounting in the engine bay, and its easier with an early shell without power steering. There have been a few done, but its not that common. there are a couple on this forum, who I think bought cars with the conversion done, I think one has got kamakazi in his name and the other has cornish.

the main part will be getting a G40 setup and then deciding how much you want to spend on improving the power.

I think the engines fit in the 1.3's but they are quite rare
