Featured Replies

What size tyres are people running on their RA's?

Recommended brands would be helpful too!

Cheers.

I see Dubdan is running 175/60 Toyo's and at £35 a tyre they are good value.

I'm no good with tyre sizes, would 185/55 be a smaller profile?

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference

185/55-13 4.0in 10.5in 21.0in 66.0in 960 0.0%

175/60-13 4.1in 10.6in 21.3in 66.8in 948 1.2%

Got that info from here.... http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Hope it helps.

Was about the post the same question as maxeh so be interested to read people's responses. Got a set of 13'' ra's which are gunna be refurbed shortly so will need some rubber.

GT steels are running - 165/65/13's but will probably be looking at 175/60/13's i.e. G40 setup.

Please post up what sizes and in particular brands your running along with how they feel in the wet and dry.

Cheers, Stu

175/60 Toyos, approx £36 each online, like glue in the dry,ok in the wet, started feathering on the inner edge after 3000 miles though.

Toyo's are looking promising, I dont do that many miles tbh so wear isnt super important.

Despite living in roundabout city,my Goodyear GT3's wore from new to illegal in perfect balance - exactly the same tread depth right across the tyre, both sides. I hadnt had them lazer tracked,as i dont trust tyre fitters to give me maximum life (its in their interest for the tyres to wear out quicker) - i tracked it myself by feel. Took a few miles and adjustments, but the result, along with regular pressure checks to keep them at 30 psi, proved that a Polo wearing its tyre unevenly at any degree is just not tracked correctly.
