I have a 1.4 CL Match 1999 V-Reg. The central lcoking works but is very noisy. There is this loud groaning sound when locking/unlocking the car. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the motors are shagged.. Basically buy new ones!!

HI! The pump for the central locking tends to be quite noisey anyway wether it's shagged or not, does it still work ok? Does the pump carry on making a noise for a few seconds after you use it?

Drivers window packed up so stripped down to fix, I then realised it was geared for central locking. Had a play with it all but nothing seems to work. Is there a seperate pump somewhere that isn't in the doors as none of the system seems to work.

I would like to get it working, at present it doesn't even try to do anything, any help would be appreciated!

if its a mk4 the pump for the central locking is in the boot behind the drivers side rear tail light. tend to get wet n pack up. go to a breakers n get one as are expensive new.

do a search as this comes up alot......

mine and my sisters have both packed in over the weekend (guessing its the rain) so I've got a couple to find..I unclipped the brown casing off the bottom and the little ciruit board was fucked.

its a vacuum pump so they do tend to be noisy!

Yeah, just stripped it out!! Terminals are green and sure as sure the board has blown a hole in one of the circuits!!! Wouldn't imagine water would get in there!!

Going to look at the scrappy tomorrow, if theres no polos, do any of the other VAG group interfit???

yes mk3 golf units fit

ask the scrappy if you can test it before u buy it!

and an idea woudl be to put the pump in to a zip lock bag to prevent any more water related problems. its common for water leaks here as itseeps in through the rear light, esp if they have been change and not tightened up poperly!

mine blew when i fitted my mk5 lights on, forgot to put the waterproof seals on and washed the car it screwed it up, went to the vw garage for a new one he said £171... went to a vw spares £40 works fine now but the rear doors are a slower than the front is that ment to be? and the drivers side doesnt alwats turn the key back when i lock or unlock any ideas why?
