Confused!!

Featured Replies

I was sat in my car the other night. I didnt have the key in the ignition but when I flicked the full beems on to look at something my fan and rear window heater came on (As there were on when I had the car running)

Is there some sort of electrical fault in my car or is it a built in Mk3 Polo thing I haven't come across yet??

Does anyone else's car do this?

Thanks for any help!

mine used to do the same! i guess it cause a short in the electrical system somehow!

Happens in all mk3s and mk2s I think. It's the way the wiring is, with the full beam circuit on it turns some stuff that is ignition switched!

Quite random, I think it happens on mk4s as well actually?

It's a quirk of the wiring system - basically it's a fairly random unintended thing, but what's actually happening is that a circuit is being completed and that's why you've got power when you normally wouldn't expect it without the ignition on.
