I will make new engine fit into my coupe !!!!!!!!!

Featured Replies

Just did a mock build to get some basic dimensions. I'll need to remove the heater box and the scuttle pannel but who needs them!

I think I'll have it running this weekend .............. :-D

AFH on 40's

Nah. Need a little more - 'scuse my ignorance!

1.4 16v on twin 40 carbs.

Would be interested in seeing the car once its running!

Those Compos I bought are starting to take shape as well :paranoid:

ace glad they're as good as they look. looking forward to see what its like.

Nice!

Will be good to see another mk3 with this engine in. Last one i saw was a red mk3 on black multispoke TSW Imola's? quite a few years back now.

dog woods mk3. was featured in PVW i think, ran 140bhp on throttle bodies. now has 1.6 bottom end, sequential box and a host of other toys on it.

Looking good even as a mock...Should be a perfect fit too.

1.7 now I believe. A good 20k in that car easy

Looks like a nice engine, was there any particular reason for chosing carbs?

Bye bye bulkhead

"Looks like a nice engine, was there any particular reason for chosing carbs?" YOOF

............. I'm an old school guy who only knows old school technology. and its a real budget racer, everything is driven by cost so I have to do most of the work myself, with a little help where needed. I'm using megajolt and that's real technical stuff ....it's programable from a laptop you know !!!

Anyway ....... I'm cutting the scuttle pannel out tonight ............. pic to follow. Hope I dont mess up !!!

Dogwoods car ........ nice, its a 1600 AFH putting out a minimum of 206bhp and he's working on releasing about another 15bhp ........... and thats £20k not miles.!!! Its in about 2,000,000 bits at the moment as it's undergoing a full "Berg Cup" rebuild. 6 speed sequencial box, full space frame chassis, lhd conversion for better weight distribution, full carbon body kit, no dash, all wated material removed etc ........ its a master piece of engineering

interesting start to the build thread mate. Look forward to some more progress

thought nick made 218bhp last outing? Either way its still a shead load of power, but not surprising considering the work that's gone into it.

Cage looks good anyway, fair play for sticking with what you know, i'm currently confusing myself with megasquirt, ah the joys of wires.

NICE!

Maybe he's at 218bhp now its not that he's secrative about his car stuff, it's just he's continualy improving the motor all the time.

Wires ...... I'm removing the distributor and runing megajolt ignition thats about as complex as I wish to go for 2007. I have a spare engine which will be "race preped" during 2008, full dynamic balance, knife edge crank, head work and schrick cams Jenvey throttle bodies (170 - 180 bhp target) . I'm learning new stuff all the time, quite fun realy. The biggest thing I've learned so far is how much stuff goes into a car thats just not needed ......

Cool project mate

This should be a sweet little setup when running!

mmmmmmmmmmmmm dellorto's

  • 4 weeks later...

Nice start to the build?

Does anyone have any pics of dogwood's car by any chance? Feel free to PM me rather than hi-jack the thread, it sounds mad!
