I now have a rusty G40, with good mechanical bits, and will be collecting a nice Mk2 coupe S on Saturday, with the intention of building a Mk2 G40 conversion. natch.

I've looked at the Faq's - looks like I've let myself in for quite a bit of work!

Couple of questions.

1. Can I use the lowered springs from the G onto the Mk2 ?

2. Isn't the steering rack quicker on the G ?

3. What about ARB's ?

I expect I've forgotton to ask some really important question, if so, can someone ask it for me :-D

yes

No

3. What about ARB's ?

The thickness is all the same. If your mk2 is a 4-speed then it might have a slightly different shape arb on it. Ideally you should swap the arb if it is a different shape to stop it rubbing on the 5-speed gearbox casing.

As far as i know,its a straight swap. The MK3 is infact a MK2F - Its the same car as a MK2 under the make-up. The MK2's bonnet ridges in the scuttle panel still cracks me up :)

Always found that funny myself, the weird thing is if you look at the base of the A pillars they are different, yet they left the scuttle the same.

The rear axle would need to be swapped over too wouldnt it?

doesn't have to be but the GT/G40 one has an integrated anti roll bar.

Bellew - The a-pillars are virtually the same under the wing,the only difference being that they modified the tooling to lower the profile of the skin to allow the wing to cross over it.
