I have a 1992 squareback which I am restoring. I am trying to keep everything original. Where can I buy mud flaps for that year of car.

I can't say I’ve ever seen the original dealer fitted ones for the MK3, although they must have existed because they used to mention them in the back of some of the brochures. Someone on here is bound to have a picture of some.

But in the meantime; you probably wont be able to get them new anymore (from VW or elsewhere) as they'll have become obsolete a while ago. Having said that, the fitted carpet mats were still available from dealers up until very recently, so you could try your local VW dealer but I wouldn't hold out much hope. I had some cheap replicas fitted to mine, but they were a bit awkward to fit and seemed to promote rust on one of the wings.

They were dealership optional extras made by Quantum.

Sure you can still get them from vw, got some for a mk3 I had and that was only 18 months or so ago. I stuck mk2 polo round vw badges from the tailgate on them rather than polo badges.
