Just wanted some advice from people who know what they are on about!!

I got my Polo bout a month ago. Got a new head unit and use its aux input to play songs off my ipod.

Anyway, the sound is quite good, especially the treble BUT when I turn it up quite loud, I'm talking to about where you would need to raise your voice to hear yoursef but not deafenigly loud, the speaker on the left hand side (door) 'fuzzes'

It only does this on a song with bass in. It seems to especially struggle on songs with bass guitar in.

I went to halfrauds but they quoted me £100 labour + the cost of the new door speakers!

Just wanted to know... Is this a common problem with Mk4 polos? I'm thinking it could be a connection or a problem with the speaker itself? Is this a common problem or am I probaly gonna have to shell out for a new set of door speakers?

the door cards are a piece of cake to remove. remove all bits like door handles, winders and exposed screws then carefully pull the door card from the bottom. there are little poppers behind so be carefull not to break them. removing speaker should be obvious once you have the doorcard removed.

your best off getting a brand new set of branded speakers, ie fusion or infinity which will cope a hell of a lot better then standard speaks. also if you change them over you can make sure all connections etc are perfect. also 6x9s in rear parcel shelf will help alot with your sound

don't get infinity or fusion, my mate ran inifinity speakers and got through 2 pairs in the same amount of months!

6x9's in your shelf isn't a good idea either to be honest. whip your doorcard off which is easy and involves two screws! (make sure you take the door pin off aswell our you'll snap that). then get yourself some decent speakers, check foxies good and bad list of brands in the FAQ section!

also 6x9s in rear parcel shelf will help alot with your sound

6x9s are great for making a bit of cheap noise, but no good for sound quality and sound staging. really wouldnt bother with them. plus they encourage pikey thieves

must hav had them turned up to loud lol I've had my infinities in for 8 months still sounding fine :-D

nah he didn't turn them up too loud at all and they were powered by a decent amp which wasn't over powering them they just stopped work!

if you just wanna get your speakers out you can pop out the speaker covers easy. flat head screw driver and just tilt it a bit and they are out. they go back in no problems, saves messing with the door cards.

i used to run sony custom fit speakers in my old mk4 and they were great and only cost me around £35 i think

The whole slating of 6X9's is a little foolish i think, yeh there never gonna be as good as a full on system with sub in the boot and amped components up front but u get a set of those pioneer 6x9s and they completely transform the sound in a car for about 60 quid.

u can go and buy a set of directed audio components or something similar which are awesome but unles you amp them they sound quite tinny in my opinion, again though its all to do with the music you like and your preferences but for 60 quid on some 6x9s and the standard components up front you can get a decent enough sound with sufficient bass for most people.
