How do you clean injectors on a GT? Do they just pull out? Or what? (i'm talking about those big black things on the injector rail, right?)

As a first resort, I'd bung some thoughté through it and see if that works. Far easier than having the engine apart.

Unless you got a slave injector rail, fuel pump and switching circuit, then there is nothing to gain by removing them.

Of couse if you have, then pumping pure injector cleaner through them really brings out the best, alternatively an UltraSonic cleaner doea a good job too!!

You add it to a tank of fuel. Try Redex

If the car still has a cat I wouldn't use Redex. Wynns injector cleaner has perked up my Polo on the 3 different injectors I've tried.

I used redex in my old pug 306 and it did a great job. Fuel effeciency went up by about 5mpg and it ran loads better.

Could give VW's own fuel treatment a try. Part No. G001 700 03, £6.13 inc. VAT and treats 150 litres. Not an off the shelf item though, so you'll probably have to order it in.

i used it hasnt destroyed my cat cus it passed its mot just after using a 4 treatment bottle.

Redex fuel treatment states on the bottle "not suitable for catalytic convertors" or something along those lines.

All the fuel additive ones are a waster of time. If the injectors need cleaning get them done by ASNU.

ASNU make injector cleaning eqipment. I presume its an acronym for something. Anyway its a system of ultrasonically cleaning your injectors then checking their flow rates against each other. I might have this facility very soon. Watch this space.

Strange, I've had good results a fair few times using a chemical injector cleaner. The one you want is thoughté, a lot of car shops don't carry it, but ask a friendly garage and they'll sell you a bottle.

Machine cleaning works every time, but can be a bit like having brain surgery to fix a headache.
