I know 50's or 55's but looking at either 165/65 or 175/65 on 13's with ET35 or 38

If/when it get dropped prolly only 40mm will either of these combinations cause any rubbing.

PS I have searched but found no mention of the above comnbo in the faq

I think its fair to say on a 40mm drop you shouldn't have any scrubbing issues running 165's or 175's on 13's.

165 and 175 are the standard widths for GT & G40's and i've mine lowered 40 & 60mm on standard wheels and even with a full load i.e. 5 up i had no scrubbing issues so you should be fine.

175/65 is slightly bigger than the standard G40 size of 175/60. They shouldn't cause any problems on a Coupe down 40mm though.

do u think 14"rims with low profile tyers with 40mm lowering would rub i was hoping for seom 15" but my mate told me they would rub like mad

From experience red-rocket you should also be fine with 14's low profile tyres and a 40 mm drop. I'm running 60/40 H8R kit (lower than most 40 kits) with some 195/45/14's and i have no rubbing issues. The tyres are conti sport contacts which appear slightly wider than my previous Toyo T1-R's but still no issues.

15's and mk3's are a whole different ball game. Its either a case of running 165/50's or 175/50's or 185/45's and pray. Otherwise arch work will be needed. Had 15's on my mk3 previously and even with 195/45's, with a passenger or a large bump in the road you could feel them ripping into the arches. I now have flat spots on the plastic linings. A skinner tyre should help you down to around 60mm after that again you would need more arch work. Hope that helps.
