Head units with usb

Featured Replies

I just got a new WD Passport 160gb portable hard drive today and I thought of something :p It rekons it can hold about 50,000 songs on it, so if I can find a head unit with usb I should in theory be able to use it with the hard drive.

Has anybody tried this? and what head units have a usb connector?

Iv seen a few with USB connections i cant remeber what makes tho. They should be cheap now though because every manufacturer is trying to bum ipods now. I reckon it would work but dont take my word for it. I have seen one with USB's in the front do you reckon you could buy one with a usb in the rear aswell? That would be wicked. You've got me thinkin now I'm gona look into it.........

i've been looking to this a little also. One particular headunit which i've liked the look of is this -->

Blaupunkt Casablanca MP56

This has a usb connection in the rear and an extension cable so you can mount it/use it where you want. Blaupunkt make a specifc 40gig hard drive to use with it. Retails for around £140 aswell so reasonably price.

I've got one of them drives, what ever you do, dont drop it! they have NO shock protection what so ever! just a heads up 8-)

as for usb head units:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/usb-player...70a079195f4bd68

get it from there! if you're a club member you get a discount code too for free delivery! (which could cost more than clubpolo membership will :-D )
