hi everyone.

At the moment i am running 185/60/14 tyres and stock suspension on my mk3 coupe, but when i have a few people in the car the tyres rub badly on the archs under breaking and when going over bumps. So I'm looking for some new tyres, however I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to sizes. What can i fit on it and also what is a good tyre to use that isnt to expensive. BTW i am going to lower it 60mm with one of the kits off here.

Well, you could go for a low-pro 185/45/14, or try a smaller tyre width wise and get a bit of a stretch going!

What offset are your wheels?

I'm not sure on the offset, they were on the car when i got it and i cant see any brand name on them. Ill get some pics up tomorrow and also have a closer look at them to see it i have missed something.

What sort of size tyre would be good to get some stretch not to much tho. Also where would be a good place to get them from?

Bit of a shot in the dark with such little info,but i agree with Josh on the narrower idea aswell as lower pro - 165x55x14 should suit nice.

Wont that be wider than the rim? The 185's I'm running now are just as wide as the rim.

I run 6 x 14 and 195/45-14 and they fit lovely, tight enough on the rims to be responsive, fat enough to protect the rims and provide a bit of give before breaking grip!!

I don't know why people insist on fitting such wide tyres (and wheels) on here. Bigger isn't always better.

A 195 tyre is just too wide for a light car like the mk2/3 Polo particularly with its poor chassis design.

I'm with Mikey, 165/55 are the way to go or 175/50. More than enough tread on the road, 195's will lead to heavy steering, increased tramlining and shit wet weather grip.

Saying that, I've got 185/50's on Golf GTi steels on my mk2 squareback. They sit nice and squarely on the rims, but until I drive it I won't know how good they are. They do look rather big for such a little car.

Only time will tell.
