Started changing my rear drums and pads today as the MOT is due in Nov and I knew that they were low - so done the drivers side fine - no problem at all - took a bit longer than I thought but made the other side easier!

Anyway - start on the n/s and the lack of brakes on one side issue had become apparent - my cylinder had pissed fluid all over the internal springs and pads and drum. I knew there was a leak - as I had to keep topping up the fluid regularly - but never thought it'd be that bad!

Luckily along with my bits I bought new cylinders and bolts from VAG following a pre-job post on here asking about tools and tricky areas - people had advised these cylinder bolts being allen keys may round off - and sure enough - the o/s was fine but the n/s rounded one bolt....

Removed the back plate and handbrake cable and simply drilled off the head of the rounded bolt and used the new ones from VAG to refit...

All in all - both sides - using new drums, pads, bearings, spring kit, cylinders, bleeding and adjusting the rear bearings took me and my dad 6 hours.

Car is now a lot safer me thinks and will stop better too!

Cannot wait to drive it now! Also - didn't get time to adjust the handbrake - where abouts do I do this?
