Featured Replies

looking to upgrade speaker system in my 6n. but onli the front, and looking at past topics looks like component systems are the best way, but seem abit pricey.

iv got a pair of blaupunkt 6x9s and vibe qb69s in my parcel shelf at the min, running off a fli 800s amp, but want more up front.

looked on the car audio direct site and found these

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/rainbow-sl...4ebe196feebde41

anyone had these or herd good/bad comments, dont want to spend more than £150 though.

how are component systems powerd??

also want to upgrade my head unit got a kenwood one at the min, doesnt seem too bad, but want a change, dont want to be spending over £200.

any help is appreciated.

Well it all boils down to your budget...Components run via an amp...Does your head unit have Outputs? How many channels is your amp?

ye rainbows are very good, I'm running those! i think its 97 wrms. did you say you'd be running the comps off your fli amp?

amps a 4 channel one, but thats running my two sets of 6x9s in the parcel shelf. so in order to run components id need an extra amp? but if i was to get an extra amp i would need an head unit with 3 rca's, two for my fli amp and one for the component amps? am i correct, if so any recomendations on a head unit which will accomodate this.

Yeh thats correct. Thing is any 3 RCA headunit is set out as Front, Rear and Sub. I think that you should be able to run a full range amp of that. Infinity Kappa's sound good to, around 80 I paid for mine, around 90rms too. Headunit I would recommend to you for under 200 would be Alpine 9855, anyone in that range, brillient sound quality, had mine when I got the car can't really talk it down apart from the glidetouch can be a bit tricky when moving! But its your choice at the end of the day. Hope that helps.

looking at head units, and came across this one, it says 4 rca's with optonal cable,

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/blaupunkt-...4ebe196feebde41

and this is the cable

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/blaupunkt-...4ebe196feebde41

would this provide something like 2xfront pre-outs and 2xrear pre-outs, sort of thing or how would it work?

if i was going for the two amps option, that mean i would need a power cap, true?

thanks for the link, it is abit confusing, wonder how it works with the four rca's. i hope somebody can help on the explination of how the 4 rca's work.

any thoughts / comments on blapunkt head units?

the best way to get decent sound is use amped components up front, no rear speakers and a sub in the boot.

you might as well sell the rear speakers. your brain cannot work out which side the sound is comming from if the source is behind you so rear speakers ruin the sterio seperation only fronts will produce.

head unit wise, you definatly get what you pay for, so just chose the one you like but avoid cheap ones

all you need is:

a head unit

rca cables

4channel amp

run the front components off 2 channels

run a sub of the other channels bridged

Try ebay.de I got some focal v2s for 150 posted to the uk brandnew, they are about 220 in the uk. They sound amazing hooked up to my Genesis q2x40 sod the 6x9 crap lol

that blaupunkt HU doesnt have the greatest spec, I'd consider coughing up an additional £30 for an alpine!

exactly my thoughts

unless you are using an AV system with surround sound you dont need rear speakers in a car as small as a polo...

keep the sound how it should be...vocals and mids up front as you can tell where the sound is coming from at those frequencies and bass at the rear as its not as obvious where low frequency sound is coming from

if i had my way id burn all 6x9s...if you need that much mid then get some 3 way components...placement will be a milliion times better than a big bulky 6x9

if i had my way id burn all 6x9s..

lol i did burn my old ones when they broke.

Hate them now tho. Would never ever buy them again. 6x9s and subs do not go together. Use one or the other

Totally agree with that! my sounds in my polo are all Alpine! Awsome, thats all i can say, Type R Components up front, 2 Type R Subs in boot powered by an PDX 1.1000 amp! its loud to say the least all in a custom install!

Defo recommend the Alpine headunits!
