ok i have a pretty loud grinding noise coming from around my front nearside wheel on my gt. I'm no mechanic but i know for sure its not the wheel bearing (completely different sound). I've had a quick look but cant see what it could be. also it goes on and off, most of the time when I'm going -30mph. my mot is coming up next month so i need some suggestions as to anything it might be........

Brake splash guard / back plate got a bit bent?

no the noise isnt when I'm braking just when I'm moving along fairly slowly

checked both of these and they both have holes through them so maybe warped disks I'm thinking? anyone?

If it was warped discs,the grinding would be pulsing instead of a stable grind. If you see any wear on the guard,bend it out the way a fraction. Or just remove it,like everyone else.

how do i remove it? it'll be worth a try. yeh i guess it would be pulsating but it seems to die down when i brake?

i took a look under tonight because the weather was good.

i bent that guard thing away from the disk but i dont think it was touching anyway.

the brake pad was touching on the outside so i think this is the problem for sure.

any ideas on this? could it be jammed on or whatever? need to fix asap because i do 40 miles a day!

I'm going to take my wheel off later and give the caliper a good smack with a hammer, anyone got any better ideas?
