Thanks dude :)

Ah no, take the stripes off! I think they make look your wheels so blown up.

Actually love it! why the rear lights taped on?

  • Author

Cheers :)

The new light covers need to be glued and sealed from one side but I can't find the correct stuff to use on it. I need clear Stikkeflex but can't find it anywhere for the moment, so masking tape is okay because the car stays parked up anyway :)

stay with all black rims i say! lovin the rear lights too, a nice over all car dude

Thanks Ste appreciated ;)

Right in my opinion, that is such an ugly car (the model in general) and you've done well to make it look a bit nicer in my eyes. Love the black rims with stripe, I had that idea but never got round to it, well tempted to do that now...

Also, the work you've done is top notch, and you're only 16! I didn't even know how to change the oil on a car at that age. God I feel old sayin that haha

Lol cheers for your opinion dude, each for their own :)

I like the pinstripe, it's funky. I plan on refurbing some wheels and (depending on the colour of the car) possibly painting them black too with a pinstripe. The Starlet looks awesome but you gotta get yourself the black Glanza stickers below the rear window and some badges for the bootlid, thats just my opinion. The reason I said is that the car is seriously nice but I think it needs a few details (such as badges/stickers). Nice work tho!

Thanks dude

Yeah I agree with you about the detailing, once its on the road I'll go to a graphics shop and get them all done at once. Black Glanza on the sides under the windows in the stock position and also something on the rear somewhere in Black.

Got my hands on a pair of genuine wind deflectors :D (which are usually a c*unt to get hold of)

That was just a trial fit, I think I'm gonna paint the door frame and the B pillar Black before fitting them (Like the Glanza comes as stock) and maybe the mirror base plates too.

And I also now finally have...

A pair of Glanza sideskirts :D

I don't know when I'm gonna paint and fit them properly yet though.

Two JDM items in two days, both bargains too = Me happy! :D

I also decided to fit my smaller front number plate. Yes its illegal but the car doesn't go anywhere anyway so it should be okay!

As you can see the LED bulbs look shit, I'm expecting something better to replace them with and I'll update once they've arrived :)

And if you look carefully the finish on the yellow bits shown in the pictute is shit so they need doing again soon.

Small suspension update

Always had this problem with my front suspension:

DSC01230.jpg

The rubbers been out of place which should actually sit nicely at the top of the spring, and one of the top studs has also been broken for some time (it had two nuts holding the suspension on at the top)

Anyway, my brother had a spare set of suspension which lying around (which was buggered) so I thought I'd use the top mounts of the fronts.

Started off by stripping his suspension:

Followed by removing the shocks/springs off mine.

Top mounts compared:

This is the brand of my shocks if anybodys ever heard of them before?

Thanks for all the nice comments guys :)

Fitted my wind deflectors today

Also been playing around with my rear lights. I've wired the bottom row of the cluster to the sidelights, and used a dual fillament on the drivers side so it can also be used as the foglight too. Not finished yet, still need to get some Red bulbs (hopefully LED ones) and finish the wiring off. They'll look like this

DSC01318.jpg

Picked up a new headlight motor too, so I can get the front end back together once that and the headlights on :)

DSC01328.jpg

98 spec front foglights and DIN brackets are paid for so I can't wait to recieve them!! Need to sort the headunit wiring too because it short circuited somewhere.

Hmmm I think thats about it for now, but the MOT list includes:

Rear brake shoes

New headlight bulbs

New wipers

Handbrake adjustment

Front bumper brackets

Passengers front wheel bearing (I suspect)

I'm all excited about the car again I really really CANNOT wait to get it on the road :D :D :D

Put the bumper back on and thought I'd take a few snaps

I love how such little things can make such a big difference to the look of the car. Personally I'm loving the black surrounds more than I thought I would!
