My Toyota Starlet Sr - Glanza Conversion

Featured Replies

Kudos to you! wish I had the time space and ability to spray myself.

One critisism I would have is that the whole dash needs spraying. The gloss black sections in the matt grey dash just doens't do it for me. Looks half cooked IMO.

nice project

that dash is not sprayed to any decent finnish looks like u have not done your prep work properly!

did u use plastic spray filler or any filler?

and i agree with keeno spray all the dash or not at all!

Thanks guys :)

I won't be spraying the top half of the dash because I plan on getting it flocked at some stage, so it'll all be Black..

The finish on some of the parts?! Don't ask - They was quite a bastard to paint!!

I used plastic primer, gave them 2 quick coats and a couple of Black coats. Got some Orange peel but not arsed, its in places that people aren't gonna look twice at. But most of it has come out okay and has a finish like it has before (showing that cracking effect, how alot of interior plastics look) if I had given them a quick flat down and gave them another coat they'd have a beautiful smooth finish but I wanted them done quick. Maybe some other time though!

Also the Grey dash colour goes all the way round the interior of the car, partly why i wanted to keep it and have not sprayed that part of the interior around the car. Look at the other pics if you don't understand what I mean, theres the Grey at the top of the doorcard and on the rear quarter interior panel too

A quick pic while I was half way through fitting the freshly painted scuttle panel and wiper arms. (Can't get enough of that sexy Gloss Black!!)

Don't expect to be seeing alot of updates in the next 6 weeks(ish) though.. Starting college at the end of the week so I'm laying off Bananza. Will hopefully get some money saved up in that time though and gather some parts I need :)

An update

The drivers said paint had quite a few runs in from before and when I tried flatting them I noticed the coat was thick enough and it went straight down to primer, so I resprayed that yesterday.

A picture to show how the Blue headlight bulbs reflect against the inside of the light 8-)

Then I just went around the car trying to get all the panels lined up nearly perfect and I'm quite happy with them now

What do you guys think to them? Thats only masking tape to give an idea..

I'm against them! I'd prefer no eyelids but let me know what you think of the idea :)

Next on the list is MOT I think, modification wise next will be a Gloss Black respray for the rims me thinks :)

No eyelids! Project's looking good
