Drivers Quarter Light Window

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm just having an attempt at fitting a new quater light window in my drivers door as some C**T smashed mine when they robbed my stereo!

I got the window through from bitz007 (Toby) - legend cheers for sorting that out! But didnt come with the rubber surround so having to reuse the one from the smashed window...

I'm just in the process of removing whats left of the smashed glass from it and just wondering if anyone has any tips/instructions on how to get the new pain of glass into the rubber eaisly and quickly...

Any links or tips or how too's would be greatly appriciated.

Cheers!

just a suggestion as I've never done it but something like fairy liquid? just well rinse it off everything afterwards

I could be utterly wrong, but I always thought you removed the divider bar between the two peices of glass to do them?

*Goes to look for the thatcham manual

Nothing in thatcham, russek or Haynes about it. I've personally take the divider bar out, put the rubber on the new glass (that's what the fairy liquid's for), slide that in and put the divider bar back, seeing is it's just a screw top and bottom.

Never done one though, so hard to say.

Cheers, yeah Iv already got the metal divider bar out and taken the rubber surround for the small quater light out and iv removed most of the broken glass from it but its just a bit of a mission to get the new pain in the rubber!

Yeah my hanyes manual was rubbish at exsplaining what to do!! Cheers for looking in the others thought :D

Think washing up liquid sounds like the answer, cheers guys :D (il, report back tomorrow to let you know how I get on!)

Jamie

Oh, warming the rubber can help if it's not being receptive. Don't overdo it though.
