Featured Replies

Ok ok so its not much i spent a night last week preparing some small rust spots of the NS, rubbed down some of the bonnet then painted it.

I'm well happy how its turned out, there is some tiny marks an eyelash and 1 - 2 bug splats that i missed, shame..

Next jobs are, sort the rust spots on the OS, fill and paint the boot lid and maybe the sunroof if i get time.

I think with some nice wheels and painted itll look real good. I'm happy with it anyway.

WHAT I've DONE TODAY

Well today i had nothing planned and thought id get on with the car but i got concerned about it raining but I've been lucky today.

I've painted.

Front and rear bumpers, both front wings, the lower half of the car, NS & OS door shuts, grill and the little bit below the front and rear lights.

(I painted the boot the other day, just thought id wait till i done mnore before posting a single pic)

The reason i only painted below the doors, A: i didnt have enough paint to do it all and B: if i ran out while painting at least it wouyldnt look like a complete abortion.

Here you go.

Good job, I'd be very tempted to leave it like that, looks ace!

What i am thinking about is removing the cuttering off the roof and smoothing it, but id get soaked with the window open if its raining.

I cant drive anywhere with the window shut completely, i need air lol.

  • 1 month later...

looks nice, i like the two-tone as is!

Are you using rattle cans? I am repainting my mk3 with matt spray, but am not sure how many cans i need, I've got 6 of primer, but thats no biggie as i can easily buy more, but the main paint colour, you reacon 2 for the bonnet and 10 for the rest is enough?

looks like a taxi!

If you look in my OTHER pic post I've painted the whole thing now. I'd say 10 500ml cans is way more than enough,

nice to keep a can or two sare for touch ups ect. I used 6 large cans and that was to do all the door and boot shuts.

Though I've not panted the underside of the bonnet and i used ZERO primer. So i expect it to start to chip off at some point.

mmm not sure about that ... once u put some wheels on then it should look cool!
