As above really, it's got 4 dents that look like spot welds, can I drill these out? Or is it an angle grinder job?

Ideally I'd like the bracket intact in case I want to bolt it back on afterwards if I have a change of plan....

Depending on what model polo you have depends on what you can do, though from what youve said yours is welded in just like the one in my MK3.

Why are you in such a rush to fit a sub. If you making a custom box then build it around the bracket. Or seal the drain hole in the spare wheel well, line the well with sound deadaning SP, and bond your false floor to the polo floor. If you get a good seal you can use the well as the box, so all youd need to do is make a good sealed floor with the desired 10" 12" 15" hole cut out for your sub. If your sub requires a ported box then offset the sub in the wheel well and put a port in if not then seal it up.

I have a sub already but its kinda floating around half in half out of the well in a box... It will sit in there ok without the bracket til I buy some MDF and stuff that's why I was asking. I guess I can take it out for a week :crybaby: :crybaby:

I was going for exactly what you've described, but the only problem is the capacity will be too big for the sub I have (21 litres closed, 36.5 litres ported). From my measurements the well is 600mm diameter and aroun 170mm depth, giving 48 litres which I reckon can be taken down to 36.5 with enough sound deadening and expanding foam?!! :wasted: :retard:

I think the least destructive way if you want to be able to bolt it back on at some point would be to get a spot-weld drill bit and drill out the welds.

edit: I read the manual wrong the ported volume should be 43 litres for my sub, so not far off :)
