Dodgy Dave Idea on Exhaust Bracket Repair...

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I don't know if you will laugh more at my misfortune rather than my drawing but here goes:

Some time a long time ago PSD advertised exhaust systems for G40's and I bought one of these very expensive nice looking systems and even got a PSD fitting kit - which consisted of clamps only, and after sourcing suitable rubbers etc - fitted the system but due to one of the arms snapping on the rear hanger - it fell off the rear hanger and disconnected at the back box join - leaving a tigra to drive and wedge my shiny new backbox under thier sump.

I found a company that will manufacture a new hanger system for my car / backbox and this system and rectify the slightly flattened pipe edge - but the problem is getting the car there....

I bought a new VAG MK3 polo hanger and my plan was to use a std setup - but it is crap - thus need to fit the backbox only to drive the car for a month in an emergency etc or down to the exhaust shop for the repair to be completed properly.

In the meanwhile my idea was as below using the new bracket from VAG and modifying it and then drilling through the existing one etc to then bolt over the top and effectively putting new arms onto the car to rehang the backbox as seen here in my didgy drawing:

If that makes any sense let me know but I would think that would be suitable to drive a little before the exhaust shop put something proper in place?
