What Are these wheels worth?

Featured Replies

I just purchased 4 BBS alloy wheels, originally fitted to a dealer special edition 1989 Golf GTi 8v.

All 7” x 15”, ET/offset 24

2 tyres – Michelin Pilot HX – 195/50/15 R-rated – deep tread

2 tyres – Pirelli P600 – 195/50/15 ZR-rated – little tread

What does everyone think they may be worth in the condition in the pic? And if they were fully refurbed?

Also what is the best product to remove all the brakedust and tar etc....?

Ok thanks. What are they worth roughly?

Carl had these fully refurbed in black with new tyres and they just wouldn't sell for 200. Thats how much tyres cost him alone

Whats wrong with them then? I know there not splits. I wont be refurbing them just attempting to get them looking as good as possible.

those style bbs rims are common as! best thing to do would be to give them a diy refurb, you might get a ton for them if you are lucky

I reckon you'll get more without tyres. The tyre sizes are crap tbh and there huge anyway. Personally I'd clean the gold bits up cause they look pretty tidy, repolish the lips and slap them on ebay.

I just purchased them and payed £103 off fleabay. :? :-? Was a bit of an impulse buy tbh but i think they will look quite good with a bit of a cleanup. Also they are only about 20 miles from where i live. Is that mequires stuff the best to remove all the shit or is something like autosol better?

if the laquer is shot, you will need to sand it off. its not too dificult. or if you dont like the gold, use paint stripper :-p

I like the gold think it will be pretty pimp on a black car :D

Also no1 said what the model of these rims are I'm unsure myself i know for a fact they are not RM's can some1 elaborate.......

best way to clean them up is to use paint stripper to remove the laquer (be carefull not to get it on the gold bits!) i would then use wet ot dry paper (work progressively down to finer grades) then use autosol metal polish applied using wire wool then buff up with autoglym metal polish. you could use a polishing kit but i dont find them very good for doing just the outer rim part!

you should be able to find out the name of the wheels from the part no which should be stamped on them.look like rj's to me though
